Mojo’s 2017 in Review

Shadow Me Still

Okay, we all know what a dumpster fire 2017 was from a political and social standpoint, so I’m just going to focus on the music here.

Undercover CoverAt the beginning of the year I released “Undercover”, a compiliation of all of the cover songs I’ve done over the last 10 years, including the very popular version of the Eurythmics’ “Missionary Man” I did with Deb Criveau, plus two new songs, “Need You Tonight” and “A Criminal Mind”. Undercover is available exclusively on Bandcamp.

While the middle of the year may have seemed like not much was going on, I was continuing to mix songs for other indie musicians like And Then There was One, plus helping Troy Adams with his ambitious concept album, while also continuing to run the weekly DIY Music Chat on Twitter, now heading into its third year!

I also got chances to see a whole host of great live bands, including Iron Maiden, Ghost, Dorothy, Devil in California, Zed, The Watchers, Thadeus Gonzalez, Truckfighters, Y&T, and more, hanging out with old friends and making some new ones.

Shadow Me Final CoverThis fall, I released a new single, Shadow Me, and am currently finishing up producing a video for it, which I hope to have out around the beginning of the year. Shadow Me and my last few releases can now be streamed on Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music, and Amazon!

Of course, new music is in the works! I will have a new single in January, an EP out in the spring and hope to have a full length album available some time next year.

How was your 2017? Let me know what bands you saw, what were some of your favorites?

Year in Review – 2015

Avatar for Mojo's Army bandHey rockers – it’s the end of another jam-packed year for Mojo’s Army! Here’s a quick look back…

My goal for 2015 was to do everything I do, better. So I took a bunch of online courses in subjects like Music Theory, Music Business, and Social Media. I worked on singing, guitar, and songwriting, and entered mixing contests to sharpen my craft.

Happily continued my killer collaboration with guitarists Troy Jay Adams and Jay Hale called “The Answer is None“, releasing 5 new songs over the course of the year. You can hear them on the project’s Soundcloud and on my YouTube Channel. Heavy, groovy, melodic, tasty stuff.. Fans of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Queensryche will be pleased. Here’s the most recent release, “Lucky You”:

Mojo’s Army also released two songs — the title track for “Red Days” and a cover of a naughty 80s classic, “I Want Your Sex.” Here’s “Red Days”:

Other fun stuff – saw some great shows in small venues, bands like Deap Vally, Motor Sister, Ghost, and the revitalized Corrosion of Conformity. I took over hosting a Twitter chat for home recording artists that’s now called the #diymusicchat. And I finally picked up a second guitar which I’ve named “Trouble” — it’s an early 90s Charvel by Jackson that I’ve tricked out with a Perpetual Burn bridge pickup and an FU-Tone brass block, so sweet!

I’m very much looking forward to releasing even more music in 2016 with both Mojo’s Army and The Answer is None, and seeing whatever else the year will bring!

Thanks for continuing this journey with me. I don’t take it lightly, I know your time is valuable and I appreciate it. Check in with me anytime on Twitter or Facebook, and remember that my entire catalog is streaming at my YouTube channel and is available for super cheap at Bandcamp!

Thanks for your support! Happy holidays to you and yours and have a rockin New Year!

Year in Review – 2014

What a year for Mojo’s Army!

Here I thought I was going to finish the Red Days EP, and what happened instead was the beginning of a killer collaboration with guitarists Troy Jay Adams and Jay Hale. We’ve released three songs so far, have three more in the works and are calling ourselves “The Answer is None”. The songs are currently on my Soundcloud and YouTube. At this rate, look for a possible album in 2015! The sound is what you’re used to, heavy, groovy, yet more epic and melodic. Fans of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Queensryche will be pleased. Toss in a little Van Halen and we have something! Here’s the most recent one, “I Know”

Mojo’s Army did release two originals, the soulful ballad “Bittersweet” and the angry, punky “Nothing to Say” which will lead off the upcoming “Red Days” EP.

I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store musically, thanks for continuing this journey with me. Remember that my entire catalog is streaming at my YouTube channel and is available for purchase for virtually nothing at Bandcamp. Support independent musicians!

Happy holidays and have a rockin New Year!
